Asbestos awareness training is now completed for the year, Nottingham Maintenance would like to thank everyone who attended. Until next year be safe! I would advise everyone to do this, not just trades people but also the general public as its a serious matter. #Asbestoskills

Nottingham Maintenance are currently going under the vetting process of B&Q Homefit team. We look forward to becoming part of this, we will keep you updated on our progress over the next few weeks. Please see below of a brief description of what they are about. B&Q Homefit provides customers with access to fully qualified and vetted local tradesmen at pre-agreed fixed prices, ensuring that the right professionals will be employed. The service covers tricky tasks such as installing hard flooring, carpet and vinyl, tiling, tap replacement and lock and alarm replacement, as well as those that should only ever be undertaken by qualified, registered tradesmen, such as boiler installation and electrical work. To make use of the service customers call the central B&Q Homefit number to be allocated a dedicated B&Q colleague who will act as a central point of contact throughout the project and who will follow through on completion. To get the project going, he or she will identify an approved Homefit installer and arrange a home survey. B&Q says concerns about costs and lack of trust in the practices of some tradesmen may prompt customers to carry out overly-challenging DIY tasks themselves. "B&Q Homefit removes that and provides the benefit of the work being backed by Europe's biggest home improvement retailer," commented B&Q director of installations Billy Quinn.
something for you to think about............. Landlords of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) are responsible for fire safety and have to ensure there are adequate fire precautions (such as alarms, extinguishers and fire blankets) and fire escape routes. These must be well maintained and adequate for the number of residents and the size of the property. HMOs should also be fitted with fire warning systems such as fire alarms and heat or smoke detectors. There should be at least one fire extinguisher on each floor and a fire blanket in every shared kitchen. These have to be checked periodically and the correct sort of extinguisher must be provided. All extinguishers should be checked at the end of each tenancy before new tenants are checked in to ensure they are in good working order and have not been tampered with. We can provide this service if you wish?
